5 Reasons Why Reinstating The Death Penalty Is A Good Thing
The death penalty sentence has always had a moral debate tied to it, ever since the day it was introduced into the legal system in the US. Since the year 1988, only three such executions have been carried out, the last being in 2003. But, some people are against the idea of having to kill someone as a method of penalty for breaking the law by doing street crime or any other rule of law most on the grounds of that the act is inhumane and cruel, others because it may be against their beliefs, personal or religious.
But, having the capital punishment as an option in the list of punishments may actually bring more good. Here are some of the reasons why.

Death Penalty reasons
#1 Deterrent Against Crime
When there is a mention of a death sentence, you can be sure that it will be a huge deterrent for crime. Most people commit crime, thinking that the worst possible thing that could happen to them is a life sentence ahead of them, which somehow still guarantees that they will be fed and taken care of. If capital punishment is brought into the mix, it would be highly unlikely that someone would commit crime, and they might even think twice before the commit anything that is against the law.
#2 Limitations of The Life Sentence
Sometimes a life sentence may not be enough for the gravity of certain crimes. For instance, someone who is convicted for the murder of a group of people, may only end up getting a life sentence. That hardly seems fair, seeing that the person will be spending their life being fed by the government, is allowed to socialize within their jail circle and would be given the necessary amenities to live a decent life, when they have just taken the lives of a whole group of people who could have also lived a decent life and contribute to the society.
#3 Saves Tax payer Money
The average taxpayers money that is channeled to jails and correctional facilities is about US$ 63,000 per year, per inmate for incarceration. That is a lot, considering the number of jails there are in the USA. Having the death penalty will only save this cost, which can then be channeled to welfare or even to the subsidy of medical expenses for those below the mid-range income in the US.

#4 The Methods Are Humane
Contrary to public belief, the methods used by the executioners are humane and quick. In the mind of the public, they still see methods like electric chairs and slow-functioning poisons. Times have definitely changed since the era of those punishments. Now, there are more advanced doses of poison that can quickly stop the heart without pain or suffering. Also, all inmates will be placed in a fairly comfortable chamber for the procedure, unlike in the old days.
#5 Prisons Are Overpopulated
Just like neighbourhoods and communities, prisons can get overpopulated as well. Having the capital punishment in place will help to cure the issue, since most of those on the death row will be defaulted back to a life sentence. If this continues, the legal system may be forced to allow convicted prisoners to be sent back into society as they have no room to house them anymore. And we certainly do not want that.
The Issue Of The Death Penalty
The issue of the death penalty should or should not be kept within the legal system is still baffling lots of people. If you’re interested to know more on people who were punished by capital punishment.
